Living Sustainability Here is preparing to make a strong statement at the 25th Nigeria International Book Fair as Selina Publications unveils its highly anticipated multi-volume anthology focused on African perspectives on sustainable development. The project moves beyond policy discussions and places African experiences, storytelling, culture, and knowledge systems at the centre of conversations about the continent’s future.

The event brings together writers, educators, researchers, and development advocates for what promises to become one of the fair’s major intellectual gatherings.

Sustainability discussions often focus on global frameworks and statistics. However, Living Sustainability Here takes a different direction.

The anthology explores what sustainable development means from an African perspective. It looks at everyday realities, indigenous knowledge systems, education, technology, literature, and social challenges affecting communities across the continent.

The project aims to encourage readers to think about sustainability through familiar experiences rather than distant policy language.

Selina Publications will host an exclusive press conference and preview session during the 25th Nigeria International Book Fair at the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and Creative Arts in Lagos.

The anthology arrives as a three-volume collection, with each volume focusing on a different aspect of development and sustainability.

The first volume, Paths to Knowledge, explores how African societies create, preserve, and share knowledge. It examines books, libraries, literacy, and cultural systems as important foundations for long-term growth.

The second volume, Our Digital Lives and Indigenous Pathways, looks at the relationship between technology and African identity. It also includes memorial tributes to literary icons Ngũgĩ wa Thiong’o and Henry Chakava.

Meanwhile, the third volume, Africa Under Pressure, examines social issues such as energy inequality, justice, security, and freedom. It also argues that literature remains a powerful tool for understanding difficult realities.

The event features a lineup of respected voices across literature, education, and cultural advocacy.

Participants include Olatoun Gabi-Williams, Dr. Nkem Osuigwe, Dr. Wale Okediran, Professor Rasheed Olaniyi, Richard Mammah, Sade Marriott, and Oreoluwa Lesi.

Guests can expect book reviews, short readings from contributors, panel discussions, and the official unveiling of the Living Sustainability Here website.

The session will also create opportunities for interaction between speakers, media representatives, and attendees.

The discussion around sustainable development continues to evolve across Africa. Young people, educators, and policy advocates increasingly seek solutions that reflect local realities and cultural experiences.

Projects like Living Sustainability Here create room for those conversations. Rather than treating sustainability as a distant goal, the anthology brings it into everyday life.

It also reinforces the growing role literature and storytelling continue to play in shaping social and economic conversations across the continent.

Living Sustainability Here arrives at a time when conversations around Africa’s future continue to expand beyond traditional development frameworks. By combining storytelling, research, and lived experiences, the anthology creates a platform that connects sustainability with everyday African realities.

The upcoming preview offers readers and industry stakeholders an early look into a project that could shape wider discussions around development and culture.
