LAUTECH Alumni Association members have awarded cash prizes and gifts to the university’s top graduating students. The gesture was made during the institution’s 18th convocation ceremony in Ogbomoso.
Members of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Alumni Association have recognised outstanding academic performance by rewarding the institution’s best graduating students with cash gifts and other items.
The presentation took place during the university’s 18th convocation ceremony held at the school auditorium in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
Speaking at the event, the Global President of the association, Lekan Badmus, announced a donation of ₦200,000 to each best graduating student across all departments.
He said the initiative reflects the alumni body’s long-term commitment to celebrating academic excellence and encouraging students to pursue high standards.
According to him, education remains one of the strongest tools for national development and human progress, making it important to support students who distinguish themselves through hard work.
Badmus added that the association remains committed to improving the welfare of staff and students while creating more opportunities for educational advancement within the university community.
Other alumni members who also made donations included former president of the association, Solomon Onilede, and Adeyanju Ibrahim.
They urged the award recipients to remain focused, innovative, and determined as they move into the next phase of their careers.
The recognition of top-performing students highlights the growing role alumni associations continue to play in supporting universities through mentorship, scholarships, infrastructure, and student incentives.
