The Kunie Foundation, a Nigerian nonprofit organization and movement founded in 2022, focused on empowering vulnerable mothers, children, and youths is releasing two new documentary films.
The foundation recently conducted a National Study on Masculinity and Gender-Based Violence, and this led to the conclusion that sustainable economic empowerment requires safer homes and communities.

The films explore the roots of violence, how it is learned, and how society can break the cycle. The first film Man to Man: Redefining Masculinity to End Gender-Based Violence examines how societal expectations of strength shape masculinity and influence violent behaviour, through expert perspectives and the story of one man.The film is an Official Selection at the Enugu International Film Festival, holding November 18–21, 2026.

The second film The Witnesses: Boys Who Lived With Violence explores the impact of violence on children, particularly boys growing up in violent environments, and how these experiences shape the men they become. The film has been selected for screenings at:-
Things Fall Apart Festival, Centre for Memories, Enugu — October 18–21, 2026.-
Abuja International Film Festival, Silverbird Galleria — October 20, 2026,
Enugu International Film Festival — November 18–21, 2026. Screening details to follow.
Kunie’s National Study found that one in five Nigerian men surveyed self-reported perpetrating at least one form of violence against women in the preceding 12 months. These findings underscore the need to confront harmful norms and understand how violence is learned and perpetuated.Watch Kunie believes that together, we can build a future where safety is normal, and violence is not accepted as inevitable.
