The Effective Communicators Conference 2026 will take centre stage in Namibia after the African Public Relations Association and the Namibian Press Agency formalised a partnership agreement.
The collaboration will see both organisations co-host the major communication gathering scheduled for July 14 to July 17, 2026, in Swakopmund, Namibia.
Organisers expect the event to attract more than 1,000 participants from across Africa and beyond.
APRA And NAMPA Formalise Partnership
The African Public Relations Association (APRA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA) on June 4, 2026.
The agreement followed an earlier invitation by NAMPA for APRA to co-host the 2026 Effective Communicators Conference.
The event will take place at The Dome in Swakopmund, one of Namibia’s leading coastal destinations.
Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology is also partnering with the organisers.
The ministry operates under the leadership of Information and Communication Technology Minister, Emma Theofelus.
Earlier in Windhoek, the minister officially unveiled activities leading to the conference after the signing ceremony.
Conference To Focus On Communication And Development
Organisers chose the theme, “Communication Reconsidered: A Driving Force for Constant Progress.”
The conference aims to bring together experts from public relations, journalism, marketing, digital media, and government communication.
Participants will examine how communication can support Africa’s development and strengthen the continent’s global image.
The gathering also seeks to encourage knowledge sharing and professional collaboration.
According to organisers, communication remains a vital tool for building trust, prosperity, and sustainable growth.
APRA Highlights Need For Responsible Storytelling
APRA President Arik Karani was represented during the signing by the association’s Secretary-General, Dr Omoniyi Ibietan.
Karani praised African governments and institutions for recognising the importance of communication in governance.
He described the collaboration between APRA, NAMPA, and Namibia’s Ministry of Information and Communication Technology as a major milestone.
According to him, the partnership will help strengthen standards and reposition communication as a driver of progress.
Karani said the association remains committed to promoting ethical, evidence-based, and responsible communication across the continent.
He added that effective storytelling can foster trust, stability, and prosperity in Africa.
Six Strategic Forums To Shape Discussions
The Effective Communicators Conference 2026 will feature six major forums designed for leaders and professionals.
One of the highlights will be the Heads of States and Diplomatic Forum.
The platform will bring together presidents, vice presidents, ministers, and diplomats to discuss communication priorities for Africa.
Other sessions include the Captains of Industry Forum and the Editors and Journalists Forum.
Participants will also engage in the Government Communicators Forum and the Strategic Communications and Public Relations Forum.
Another key session, the Digital Storytelling Forum, will focus on artificial intelligence, social media platforms, creator-led content, and emerging digital technologies.
More Than 1,000 Participants Expected
Organisers expect the conference to attract over 1,000 attendees.
The event will gather communication practitioners, policymakers, scholars, business leaders, and media professionals.

APRA Prepares For Abuja Conference
Ahead of its 37th annual conference, APRA will hold its 2026 Annual General Meeting during the Namibia gathering.
The association’s annual conference is scheduled for November 2026 in Abuja.
The event will coincide with the World Public Relations Forum.
Industry observers believe both conferences will further strengthen Africa’s communication ecosystem.
