Sahara Group has appointed former Ikeja Electric Chief Executive Officer, Folake Soetan, as the Managing Director of Arahas Global Oilfield Services, as the company strengthens its leadership team to drive growth across Africa’s energy sector.
The appointment takes effect on July 1, 2026, according to a statement issued by the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Bethel Obioma.
The company said Soetan will lead Arahas as it advances Sahara Group’s Beyond XXX agenda, a strategy aimed at improving operational excellence, expanding business impact and accelerating sustainable energy solutions across the continent.
Executive Director of Sahara Group, Adedeji Odunsi, described the appointment as part of the company’s long-term plan to position experienced leaders in strategic roles.
According to him, Sahara Group remains committed to building future-ready businesses through effective leadership, clear strategy and disciplined execution.
He said Soetan’s appointment reflects the company’s confidence in her ability to deliver measurable results while strengthening its position across the energy value chain.
Soetan to Lead Oilfield Services Expansion
As Managing Director of Arahas Global Oilfield Services, Soetan will oversee efforts to improve operational efficiency, deliver innovative solutions and expand the company’s footprint across Africa.
The company said her leadership will focus on building a globally competitive oilfield services business founded on African expertise, engineering excellence and operational reliability.
It added that her appointment aligns with its goal of delivering solutions that optimise production, extend asset lifespan and improve performance throughout the energy industry.
Additional Role Within Sahara Power Group
In addition to leading Arahas, Soetan will assume wider responsibilities within the Sahara Power Group.
Odunsi said her experience in Nigeria’s electricity industry, especially during her tenure at Ikeja Electric, would help improve operational performance and strengthen collaboration across Sahara Group’s power businesses.
He noted that assigning her dual responsibilities demonstrates the company’s commitment to integrating its upstream and power operations to provide more efficient and sustainable energy solutions across Africa.

Experienced Energy Executive
Soetan brings years of leadership experience across the energy sector in Nigeria and Ghana.
Before joining Arahas, she served as Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric, where she led several operational reforms, strengthened customer service and improved organisational performance.
She has also worked in the midstream, downstream, power and aviation industries, gaining extensive experience in business transformation, stakeholder management and operational leadership.
Sahara Group said her broad industry experience will support its ambition to build a more resilient and competitive energy business across Africa.
