Tinubu Directs Land Allocation in Abuja
President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to allocate land for a new resource centre. The site will be located along Airport Road in Abuja.
The facility will host the Abdulsalami Abubakar African Resource Centre. Officials say it will support research, leadership studies, and policy development.
Tinubu gave the directive during a high-level event celebrating the former leader. His deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, represented him.

Federal Government Commits to Funding
In addition to land allocation, the President pledged federal funding for the project. He confirmed that the government will finance construction of the facility.

The announcement came after more than ₦2 billion was raised during the event. The funds were generated through the unveiling of three books in honour of Abdulsalami Abubakar.

One of the titles is Call of Duty: An Autobiography of Gen. Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar. Another highlights him as a national patriot.
The third publication focuses on peacebuilding efforts across Africa. Professor Ibrahim Gambari reviewed the works during the event.
Former Head of State Yakubu Gowon chaired the programme. Former South African President Thabo Mbeki delivered the keynote address.
His presentation focused on democratic transition and peacebuilding in Africa. He emphasised Abdulsalami Abubakar’s role in stabilising Nigeria’s political system.
