A new Hallos platform has launched in Lagos, and teachers are already flocking to it. In fact, within 48 hours, over 30,000 educators signed up. Nigerian software company Hallos built this tool, and it allows teachers to host live classes, sell digital products, and receive direct payments from students. Additionally, the Nigerian Teachers Community—with one million members across 100 countries—has endorsed it as their preferred monetisation tool.

Nigeria keeps losing teachers to banking and tech roles. Low salaries and delayed payments cause this exodus. However, Dr. Peter Ogudoro, founder of the Nigerian Teachers Community, says the Hallos platform solves this problem.
“This tool gives parents and students access to competent teachers,” he said. “Therefore, it helps Nigeria achieve global competitiveness in education.”
How the Hallos platform works for teachers
The Hallos platform lets educators host live classes from anywhere. For example, teachers can upload lesson notes, worksheets, and video tutorials for sale. Moreover, payments go directly to the teacher through escrow-backed transfers.
Alexander Oseji, co-founder of Hallos, explained: “A teacher in Kano can reach a student in Atlanta without commuting. Consequently, this is sustainability in practice.”
Mrs. Funmilayo Adebayo, a Lagos public school teacher of 12 years, has watched colleagues leave teaching. “They could not pay rent on a teacher’s salary. Fortunately, the Hallos platform gives us a way to earn extra income without resigning.”
Mr. Chijioke Okonkwo, a private school teacher, said salaries at his school often face months of delays. “With this platform, I can record my lessons once and sell them to many students. As a result, that gives me financial breathing room.”

The Nigerian Teachers Community will launch African Schools Enhancement Training in coming months. Meanwhile, the Hallos platform remains the flagship solution.
The Hallos platform arrives at a critical time. Because of this, Nigerian teachers no longer have to choose between staying in the classroom and earning a living wage. For instance, with 30,000 sign-ups in two days, the demand is clear. This is not charity. Instead, this is scalable edtech infrastructure built by Nigerians, for Nigerian educators.
