Local government leaders across Ogun State gathered for a one-day retreat focused on artificial intelligence and digital transformation. The session explored how technology can reshape governance at the grassroots level.

Held on April 15, 2026, the retreat brought together Local Government Chairmen, Heads of Administration, and Treasurers from across the state. Organized by GFA Technologies Group, the event centered on practical ways digital tools can improve how local governments operate and deliver services.
Discussions throughout the day focused on the role of innovation in strengthening governance systems. Participants examined how adopting modern technology could improve transparency, streamline operations, and open up new revenue channels.
The event drew support from key government figures, including the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Ganiyu Hamzat, and the ALGON Ogun State Chairman, Dr. Folasade Adeyemo. Other attendees included senior officials from the Public-Private Partnership Office and the Local Government Civil Service Commission.
Speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration between government bodies and private sector innovators. They also stressed the urgency of embracing change, especially as digital tools continue to shape public administration globally.
A major focus of the retreat was the demonstration of AI-driven platforms designed for local government use. These tools showed how councils can digitize internal processes, improve communication with residents, and make better decisions using real-time data.
GFA Technologies highlighted its belief that meaningful change in Nigeria’s governance structure will begin at the local level, with councils playing a central role in driving development.
