Nigeria’s tourism sector is set for stronger collaboration with China following a high-level meeting in Beijing between the Director-General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), Ola Awakan, and the President of the China Tourism Academy, Dai Bin.
The meeting focused on developing the Chinese tourism market for Nigeria, leveraging Chinese outbound tourism intelligence, strengthening technical and capacity-building cooperation, and creating pathways for Chinese tourism investors and operators to explore investment-ready opportunities in Nigeria.
Dai Bin commended the NTDA DG for his transformative initiatives and reaffirmed the China Tourism Academy’s commitment to a strategic partnership with Nigeria. He stressed the importance of promoting Nigeria’s image among Chinese travellers and expanding exchanges in tourism education, training and business.
The Academy also expressed readiness to work with the NTDA towards facilitating a Nigerian International Tourism Promotion Centre in China, a significant step towards strengthening destination marketing and deepening Nigeria-China tourism relations.
