South African music star Tyla has removed the Lagos stop from her upcoming A*POP World Tour. The change means Nigerian fans will no longer see Lagos on the official tour schedule.
Fans noticed the update on Tyla’s official website. Neither the singer nor her management has explained why the Lagos date disappeared.
Lagos Was Set to Open the African Tour
Live Nation announced the 34-date world tour on 27 July 2026. The tour supports Tyla’s second studio album, APOP*, which she released on 24 July 2026.
The original schedule placed Lagos as the first African stop on 22 December 2026. After Lagos, Tyla planned to perform in Cape Town on 4 January 2027 and Johannesburg on 9 January 2027.
However, the latest schedule no longer includes the Lagos concert.
Online Boycott Campaign Gained Momentum
The schedule change followed days of heated discussions on social media.
Many Nigerians urged fans to boycott the concert. They linked their campaign to recent diplomatic visa tensions and reported xenophobic attacks against Nigerians living in South Africa.
The debate spread quickly across X, Facebook and other social platforms. Many users questioned whether a South African artist should hold a major concert in Nigeria while those concerns remained unresolved.
No Official Explanation Yet
Tyla has not commented on the change. Her management has also remained silent.
Live Nation has not issued a statement either.
As a result, fans do not know whether the concert has been cancelled, postponed or moved to another date.
Until an official announcement arrives, the reason behind the decision remains unknown.
World Tour Moves Ahead
Although Lagos no longer appears on the schedule, the rest of the A*POP World Tour remains unchanged.
The tour will continue across North America, Europe and Africa. It also marks Tyla’s first major global headline tour.
The African leg now begins in Cape Town before ending in Johannesburg.
For now, Nigerian fans can only wait to see whether Tyla or her team announces a new date or confirms that Lagos will not be part of the tour.
