Popular Nigerian skit maker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has dismissed speculation that his relationship with actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has broken down.

The comedian said there is no conflict between them, explaining that their reduced public appearances together are simply a result of their increasingly busy careers.

Kamo made the clarification during an interview with BBC Yoruba, uploaded on Wednesday, where he addressed the rumours that have circulated on social media in recent months.

Kamo Says Their Relationship Is Stronger Than Ever

Responding to claims that they had fallen out, Kamo insisted that his bond with Akindele remains intact.

According to him, both of them have become busier with professional commitments, leaving them with less time to appear together at movie sets and public events.

“We are still together, even closer. But now she is very busy with her December project, which didn’t give her a chance. I am also not the same as I used to be last year, and her prayer is that I should also always be called to work on projects,” he said.

He urged fans and social media users not to create stories where none exist.

“There is no fight; don’t let people paint what doesn’t exist,” he added.

How His Friendship With Funke Akindele Began

Kamo revealed that he admired Funke Akindele long before they met, describing the award-winning actress as one of his biggest role models.

He recalled meeting her for the first time while working on the set of Everybody Loves Jenifa.

According to him, an unexpected incident during filming helped strengthen their relationship.

“I lost the key to the handcuff we used on set so she showed concern about the incident. Because of how she treated me on set, I started calling her mummy,” he explained.

That experience, he said, marked the beginning of a close personal and professional relationship.

Professional Partnership Grew Over Time

Kamo credited Akindele with believing in his abilities at an early stage of his career.

He said her confidence in his talent created opportunities for him to feature in several of her productions, including Ayetoro and Behind the Scene.

According to the comedian, Akindele appreciated his dedication and work ethic, which helped build trust between them over the years.

He also acknowledged the important role she has played in his career development.

Actress’s Kindness Extended Beyond Work

Kamo’s latest comments come months after he publicly shared one of Akindele’s generous gestures toward his family.

He previously disclosed that the actress offered to fly his wife abroad to give birth after learning about her pregnancy.

The comedian described the offer as one of several acts of kindness he has received from the filmmaker, whom he credits with making a lasting impact on both his personal life and professional journey.

Social Media Speculation Continues

Rumours about a possible fallout between Kamo and Akindele gained momentum after fans noticed they were no longer appearing together as frequently as before.

Their absence from movie sets and public events led to widespread speculation online, with some social media users suggesting their relationship had deteriorated.

However, Kamo has now dismissed those claims, maintaining that there is no misunderstanding between them.

He stressed that their demanding work schedules—not personal differences—are responsible for their reduced public appearances.

Kamo State has moved to end rumours surrounding his relationship with Funke Akindele, insisting that they remain close despite their busy schedules.

The skit maker said both of them are focused on their respective careers, making it harder to spend as much time together as they once did. Nevertheless, he maintained that their friendship and professional relationship remain as strong as ever.
